In my workshop I’m building a router table, which involves seating a circular plate (attached to the router) in a flat surface so that the plate and the surface are exactly level. On the weekend I spent one day hammering and trimming 4″x4″ hunks of cedar beams to shore up the eaten or rotted shed floor and then the next day shaving away increments of .001” to get the plate flange exactly the right depth. Quite a contrast! I finally found a use for the dial indicator and feeler gauges that I’ve had sitting around unused for a few years!

One response to “Routing out some unused tools”
Was that really 2014? I finally finished the router table and fence in late 2018, and today (Jan 2019) I was having another shot at getting the router plate exactly flush with the table. Things do go slowly in my workshop!
