Alas, our European Ash will soon be no more. Emerald Ash borers are eating it away from the inside. We’ve been treating it with Treeazin for about three years, but it seems it was too little, too late. Once about a third of the tree’s crown is dead, it doesn’t come back, so it’s going under the axe this Fall, rather than wait for the inevitable. We probably won’t be able to plant a replacement this Fall, so it’ll be in Spring. Walking around Oakville these days, there are too many empty spots or dead trees. First it was something that attacked oak trees, now this. What next, locusts?
