Anna and I visited a local Oakville beauty spot on the shores of Lake Ontario, Gairloch gardens, twice this year. Once in May when the cherry trees were in blossom, and again in August on a whim – hoping to find the roses looking their best. Alas, they were not.
However, the grounds were beautiful as usual, and we found trees in blossom in May, and butterflies, a frog and lots of waves in August.
Our second trip was supposed to be a quick pop-in on our way home, but it was such a nice day, we spent quite a long time just sitting in the sun near the shore, listening to and watching the waves. Two pleasant interludes!
Photos from both visits:

I always find it fascinating to watch local photographers posing their human subjects, and wondering if they were clients, volunteers, professionals or relatives commandeered for practice. On this occasion (in Gairloch Gardens), there were two young ladies in fancy dresses doing circus tricks on a park bench while wearing high heels. Happily, they both came away unscathed so far as I could see!
