Anna went to three half-day classes on floral arrangement, in Mississauga. Each week she brought home the fruits of her labour and Mrs. Powell and I tried to capture her work in photographs. Not particularly scientifically, as it turns out, so the colour rendering is probably not very true.
Probably the best background was the one we used first, holding up a tablecloth behind the arrangement on the kitchen table. The next time there was no background at first, but then I tried a second shot of the wrist thingies, and set them on a dog towel.
The third week I tried to go all professional and took them up to the front bedroom where I have a green screen set up. My idea was to remove the green background and insert my own. This might have worked quite well, except that it turns out that floral arrangements tend to have green bits in them, so when I “disappeared” the background, many of the stems and leaves also disappeared, so we’re going with a nice green artistic back drop.
It remains to be seen whether any of this will help Anna get more shifts in the floral department.
Postscript: Anna created this arrangement at home a couple of weeks later. I think it’s great!
