Travis is now in Grade 2 and is taking after his Dad in the growth department. Mary-Jo has mostly given up on trying to keep a spare set of clothes here for his stays, because in the six weeks or so between visits he would grow out of them. He even grew out of his bicycle helmet. Most visits involve some kind of craft activity or cooking. This year we had two strawberry jam making sessions, partly because Victoria wanted to see how the process went, and partly to ensure that David had enough to survive the year, so we laid in some contingency supplies. And of course, in the Summer there was swimming. Travis is getting comfortable swimming in the deep end now.
Since September, Adam has been free to spend more time with Travis and they had a great reunion aided and abetted by a fine late-summer day and a warm pool. (Many thanks to the pool heater repair guy who came out on his day off to replace the gas igniter the day before)
At Thanksgiving we had a bitter-sweet dinner. Mary-Jo had offered to have it at our place because my niece Pamela was not able to host it. As it came to pass, Pamela’s condition suddenly worsened and she died in hospital the week before Thanksgiving. There was talk of cancelling but everyone decided Pamela would want us to go ahead, and we did, but with a much smaller Taylor contingent. Anna did a great job of decorating the tables and that day marked the first time we had the whole family: Anna, Adam, Victoria and Travis with us for Thanksgiving.
There are now 14 videos featuring Travis on YouTube. You can see a playlist of all of them here or you can see all of the videos listed individually here.
Travis will be here next weekend for a sleep-over, and one more time before Christmas to help eat make Xmas cookies.
