Just before Christmas, I converted this website to a blog format. I doubt that anyone has been back enough times to see all the revisions I’ve made since then, but I’m still experimenting to see what works and what doesn’t. With new technology we get new complications, and I’m wondering whether it’s getting too complicated.
For instance, many of the things you can click on don’t make a lot of sense when there are only a few posts. Like clicking on the “Gallery” link in the Ice Storm post; this searches the database for all the gallery-style posts and presents the entire list, which consists of the one and only post, which is where you were before.
The pictures on the first page link to “featured” posts. Which is fine if you happen to click on the picture and get to the post, but I don’t find it at all obvious that “clicking” is an option. Somehow, you have to figure that out yourself.
Please let me know how you like it, and what’s too confusing. As it’s not my code, I may not be able to change the design, but I may be able to change content so the design feature isn’t in the way as much.
Meanwhile, just try clicking on things and see what happens. It seems that that’s the way those young whippersnappers learn these days.

Beautiful pics David! Sounds like that was one hell of an ice storm you all had over there!
Love the video of an orchid opening as a ‘temporary’ filler for the next year or so.
Did click on a few things without anything happening, like the ‘blog’, ‘interface’ and ‘wordpress’ buttons. All of these words look like words I know, but when clicking on them I realized knowing them does not come hand in hand with a sense of knowledgeable clicking!
Impressed by you starting your own website to sell the stuff in your basement! Will you be competing with Craig’s List and the like? (Read: how long before I can touch you for money?)
Thanks for the compliments!
My “Sell Site” is suffering from 95% complete syndrome, and got a bit sidetracked before Christmas. Have to get back to it. If you took a look, you’d see I don’t expect to gain much as I’ll be donating proceeds to charity – should there ever BE proceeds. forsaleinoakville.ca
The “blog” , “interface” and “wordpress” buttons are similar to the gallery button. They are tags attached to the post above them, and clicking on each will bring up a list of other posts with the same tag. Of course, at the time of writing, there IS only one post with any of those tags, so it doesn’t buy you very much – YET.
