Don’t like the title? Well, “lock and zoo” doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it? And I couldn’t think of anything better.
We chose this trip based on the zoo component as we had already seen the first few locks in the Panama canal on a previous cruise. This time, we saw the lock from the bank, which is probably more impressive, but unless you’re into engineering, if you’ve seen one lock, you’ve seen them all. Unfortunately, Sararick’s “zoo” was a disappointment as well. It was a long drive to get there, and then most of the interesting animals were behind chain link, and in the case of the monkeys, they were moving too quickly to focus manually, or were right up against the fence. Either way, a decent photograph was impossible. The capybara was also behind chain link, but far enough away to throw the fence out of focus. At least there was a toucan, so I can use my favourite line in the captions. Speaking of doing better, Mary-Jo says her toucan photo was better.

If you want more canal photos, I have another 25-30 – just ask!
