Over the course of the cruise, three employees of the Corning Museum of glass put on a show, creating beautiful works of art from molten glass. At the end of the cruise, six works are auctioned off for the benefit of future students who want to work in glass. Luckily for both our wallets and our overweight suitcases, Mary-Jo refrained from bidding, but coincidentally, we overheard a fellow passenger on the plane back who had purchased two pieces!
Sorry I didn’t get a shot of a finished piece; once they are finished, each piece is whisked into an annealing oven where it is gradually brought down in temperature over 10 or more hours and I didn’t go back another time (at least, not with a camera.)
