The cruise ship stayed overnight at Cartegena, so we had a unique opportunity to be ashore in the evening. The three of us went on a horse-drawn carriage ride the first evening, stopping briefly at the old fort outside the walls and then spending the majority of the time going up and down narrow streets, between houses with beautifully crafted and decorated balconies. Mary-Jo tipped our horse with an apple.
The next day, Anna and I took a cab back and wandered wherever the will took us, which was mostly to the closest frozen yoghurt store as directed by Anna’s iPhone and Google. The place is small enough to cover on foot, and with a little common sense (like looking to see which way the sea was!) it was easy enough to find our way around. Anna was happy buying some crafty things and a piece of artwork and some melon, and there was lots to photograph.
On the carriage ride, I took some video, which was probably not the smartest idea, given the rough roads and bouncy suspension, but I think you’ll get an idea of what it was like. It’s taken me nine months to get around to editing the footage but here, at last, it can be presented to you. (I set published dates to the time the event happened, rather than the time I upload it, and now it’s late November.)
Anyway, here are some of the photos, and there are more photos interspersed inside the video, which is just after the photos.
and here’s the video:
