A short walk from the cruise ship berth in Cartagena is a gift shop and taxi terminal which has a number of outside exhibits including an enclosed area with many bird species, an open area with more parrots than you can shake a stick at, and a monkey troupe which occasionally visits to steal the bird’s fruit. There was also a tortoise, flamingos and peacocks. There are always peacocks. As far as I was concerned, this was the highlight of the cruise. We were berthed in Cartagena for two days, and I visited these birds each day – it was wonderful not having any wire fences between my lens and the birds! The video (2:21) shows most of the pictures, and a few video clips to give the bigger picture.
